There are several places you can find your car's meldcode:
On the vehicle registration certificate:
- The meldcode is located on the front of your vehicle registration certificate, under the license plate number. It's a four-digit code.
On the registration certificate:
- If you recently purchased the car, the meldcode might also be on the registration certificate.
On the chassis sticker:
- The chassis sticker is usually located under the hood or on the inside of a car door. The meldcode is the last four digits of the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on the sticker.
Requesting from the RDW:
- You can also request the meldcode online through the RDW website.
Requesting from the seller:
- If you recently bought the car, you can ask the seller for the meldcode.
Other locations:
- In rare cases, the meldcode might be found in other locations within the car, such as the dashboard or door jamb.
Tips:
- If you're unable to locate the meldcode in any of these places, you can contact your car insurance company.
- It's a good idea to write down the meldcode and keep it somewhere easily accessible.
Note:
- The meldcode is different from the chassis number. The chassis number is a unique 17-digit code for each car. The meldcode is simply the last four digits of the chassis number.
